The callers to C-SPAN's long-running morning show Washington Journal are as beautiful, and diverse, and perfect as America itself. In a long overdue bit of fan service, the Journal put on Richard Gage the leader of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. The callers loved it—loved it. You will too.

"I just want to let our viewers know: We're gonna take a lot of phone calls, and we're gonna begin that in just a second," host Peter Slen announces near the nine minute mark. "We invited Mr. Gage on this program, because—from time to time (regular viewers of the Journal know)—that we get phone calls, asking about Building 7, regardless of what segment we're talking about. And, so, we thought we'd investigate this group, and give them a chance to have their say."

Let the record then show, that at 6:20 a.m. on August 1st, 2014, C-SPAN's Washington Journal let Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth have their say, and answer questions for 40 minutes and 12 seconds.

My father-in-law was on the NIST team that conducted the research on the causes of the tower collapses. They used material from the collapsed buildings and tested it with some of the most elaborate strength testing equipment in the world. NIST's conclusions are based on evidence from the buildings themselves but this group is claiming doubt based on nothing but videos and circumstantial scenarios.

I agree that their are some unanswered questions surrounding that whole day but this group is taking grandiose leaps from visual evidence to their "scientific" root causes.

Here's the thing...

I totally agree that the overwhelming majority of points cited by 9/11 truthers have been debunked, perhaps most notably their claims about the supposedly impossible physics of the building collapses.

Yet one major point still sticks out to me as being conspicuously absent from the official narrative: the possibility of Saudi involvement, and the obvious efforts of US officials to shield the Saudis from scrutiny.

So...when you consider that the Saudis may have been involved, and when you take into account the closeness of the Saudis with both the Bush family and Bush administration, and when you know that there has been evidence implicating the Saudis that has been redacted, and when you know that the majority of the hijackers were Saudi, and when you remove the need for an elaborate controlled demolition in order for the attack to have happened as described, is it not quite possible that some level of conspiracy is afoot? Taking the possibility of controlled demolition out of the equation also drastically reduces the number of people that would have had to be involved, making the "there's no way everyone involved could keep the secret" logic less probable.

Shorter version:

Is it possible that both truthers and non-truthers are half right, that the buildings were brought down by 19 (mostly Saudi) hijackers as described in the 9/11 Commission Report, but that the conspiracy lies in who was supporting the hijackers?

I am also sorry; sorry for any "troll commenter bleed" from this article to other Gizmodo articles due to its being shared over there. I feel like, if you are in this post's thread, you know what you're getting into. But, yeah: To have to put up with this rancor in a post about LG's new G watch or a NASA rocket launch is annoying.

Your actual complaint, though you may not know it, is with the Gawker Media drive to grow and pull in more "uniques" because more "uniques" will always mean an influx of new humans and new comments —- as opposed to a cordial, Metafilter-like community with less churn, and a greater sense of shared values. (Also, don't forget that the current editorial director company-wide is a former Gizmodo man. Ha, ha. Don't get me in trouble for writing this, please!)

Yeah you're 100% right. It's just business, I guess. I mean you seem like you have some interesting stuff...it just sucks that the internet can turn into such an ugly place. I'll get down and dirty no problem...and you're right, people should know what they're getting into with a post like this and I most definitely do. I guess my biggest thing is that the politics of the writers at Giz seems to bleed through a little more than it used to, and that doesn't really add anything to a tech site.
